Electric Locking Methods

There are different ways to control a door electrically.
the basic and easiest way is to cut in a "DOOR STRIKE".

We can also cut into the door a lever or paddle if there is no existing hardware of the correct type.
It is possible to adapt to a variety of existing door hardware styles by using special electric strike units.
These strikes have special option plates that mate to the various hardware types that we can then control.

We even have electric ways of controlling existing rim type devices.
These are special strike units called "RIM STRIKES".

Electric magnetic locks called "MAGLOCKS" are another way to control a door.
They have special requirements that make them more expensive to install than door strikes.
These include the need for egress methods such as exit buttons, exit motion detectors or panic hardware to safely let you exit.
Also, city permits and regulations are more strict when dealing with maglocks, such as the requirement to unlock them upon activation of a fire alarm or power failure.

Maglocks come in a variety of types. 1200 lbs of holding force is a normal strength but they also come in 600 lb.
Double door sets can use a dual maglock as well.

For extra strength, two 1200 lb maglocks can be enclosed within a post to add up to 2400 lbs of holding force!
This configuration reduces the width of the door opening by a few inches.

Electrified Locksets are a nice solution in certain applications.
We have other special locking options that when used, make almost anything electrically lockable.
